Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darko - Board member

Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh had his Ordinary Level Education at Nyakrom Secondary Technical School. He entered Swedru Secondary School in 1988 for his Advanced Level Education and completed in 1990. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with Philosophy, Master of Philosophy in Political Science with specialization in Public Sector Productivity and a PhD in Political Science with focus on Public Policy Making, from the University of Ghana. Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh lectured at the Department of Political Science, rising through the ranks to become a Senior Lecturer. He served as an adjunct lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public, the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College and the Kofi Annan International Peace Training Centre. For the past five years, he has participated in the training of election observers and elections managers on the continent of Africa.

He has published in both Local and international Journals in areas such Parliament and Public Policy Making, Taxation Policy, Traditional and Modern Political Orders, Institutional Development, Judicial Politics, Elections and Democracy among others.

At the University of Ghana, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh served on the Examiners’ Board, School of Social Sciences Board, Legon Hall Tutorial Board and Legon Hall Council.

He also served as a Member of the Governing Board of Nyakrom Secondary Technical School for seven years, chaired its third Speech and Prize Giving Day and served as the Guest Speaker for the Speech and Prize Giving Day of 2019. He was the Patron of the Old Students Association of Swedru Secondary School at the University of Ghana from 2009 to 2015. He chaired the launch of the 61st Anniversary of the Swedru Senior High School in September, 2019. He also served as the Vice Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Achimota School, in charge of Academic Performance from 2017-2021.

He serves as an External Examiner of number of Universities in Ghana. He served as a member of the Academic Boards of Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping and Training Centre and the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College for five years and two years respectively. He has featured on the World Bank Platforms, discussing youth empowerment and the development trajectories of Ghana when the nation turned 61.  Dr Evans Aggrey-Darkoh has served as either a Judge or a Chairman of judges for the Annual Final of Finals of Ghana’s Inter-Senior High Schools Debate Competition for past ten years.

He has consulted for a number of institutions and Ministries including the Ministry of Public Procurement and the Career and Guidance Centre of the University of Ghana. He serves on the Scholarship Committee of the Grace Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, West Lands in Accra.

He is the immediate past Deputy Senior Tutor of Legon Hall of the University of Ghana in charge of maintenance. He served on the ministerial Committee on Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) from 2018-2021. He is also a member of the National Steering Committee for 2021 Population and Housing Census of Ghana. He chaired the Planning Committee of the 2020 Civil Service Week Celebrations and Awards Ceremony. He is chairing the 2021 Edition too. He also serves as an Assessor for the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission.

Awards won includes; The Most Outstanding Lecturer in the University of Ghana 2010/2011 Academic Year during the Students Representative Council Excellence Awards organized in April 2, 2011, and University of Ghana Exchange Programme Tenable at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and the Department of Political Science, Tufts University, Boston Massachusetts, USA, during 2007/2008 Academic Year. He was recognized for immense leadership for the successful organization of the Annual Civil Service Week for two consecutive years by the Head of the Civil Service of Ghana in 2021. 

Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh is currently the Chief Director of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

 He is married to Cynthia and they have three kids; Andy, Ann and Andrea.
